CAGAYAN de Oro City commemorated the annual observance of International Day of Peace on Saturday (Sept. 20) by joining the local staging of the global music event dubbed ‘Playing For Change’ at the City Hall Mini Park.
The event featured performances by local artists Jobert Bryan, Ian Filipino, TRD/Crashouts, JCIL Band, Mysteria, EliRockj, The 7 Tribes, Buhata, CDO Tamboleros, Core of Light, and Cast in Place.
Guest performers included Bukidagat of Bukidnon, Govinda of Kadangyan, Jericho Vamenta and Michelle Lua of Karumata.
Besides song performances, an Interfaith Prayer for Peace was also held during the program led by the Tigwahanon Tribe and Bishop Rhyan Casiño of the God Bless CDO Movement.
Now on its 11th year, the annual initiative of the City Gender and Development (GAD) Office is organized by City GAD creative and IPs sector coordinator Dodu Abrio in partnership with the Kagay-an Lokal Musik group.
Led by Mayor Rolando ‘Klarex’ Uy, City GAD Chairperson, other city officials that lent their support were Sheila Bello Lumbatan, City GAD Vice Chairperson; Sol-Paeste Mosqueda, City GAD Interim Office Head; Oro Integrated Cooperative; City Councilor Des Dahino; Doc Cas Entertainment Group; Sammakami Inc.; Dayeg Movement; Nagmus CDO Inc.; Metal Army; and Eggmen Productions.
The event highlights the power of music in promoting peace and unity, bridging Indigenous Peoples, Christian faith communities, and the local music scene following this year’s theme, “Global Advocacy Event for Music, Inclusion, and Gender Equality.” (NLB/CIO)
