Camiguin scores 111.5% on full vax coverage

CAMIGUIN (PIA)–Of the 65,252 recalibrated target population for COVID-19 vaccination, the province has attained 111.5% of its fully vaccinated percentage, or 72,727 individuals who received the first two primary doses of the vaccine, December 22, 2022.

During the joint meeting of the Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC), Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Council (PADAC), Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC), Provincial Task Force for COVID-19, Local Council for the Protection of Children (LCPC), and the Local Committee on Anti-Trafficking-Violence Against Women and Their Children (LCAT-VAWC), December 27, Provincial Health Officer Dr. Magnolia Naman also shared the vaccination coverage for the different categories.

Of the total vaccinated individuals, the Rural Health Unit of Catarman recorded 13,881, RHU Guinsiliban (4,990), RHU Mahinog (10,899), RHU Mambajao (33,575), and RHU Sagay (9,382).

For the first booster dose, the province has already attained 67.56% coverage, or 44,084 first dose booster vaccinated individuals.

In the A2 category, or the senior citizens, the province has recorded a 91.93% fully vaccinated percentage, or 8,180 individuals, and 5,005 of these have already received the first booster dose.

The province has also fully vaccinated 9,001 children, aged 5 to 11 years old, or 96.3%, and 1,439 are due for the second dose. RHU Catarman vaccinated 1,988 children, RHU Guinsiliban (681), RHU Mahinog (1,288), RHU Mambajao (3,760), and RHU Sagay (1,284).

For children aged 12 to 17, the fully vaccinated percentage is 149.9%, or 11,581 children. The province has also recorded 84.2% of the first booster coverage, or 6,505 children.

With the numbers attained, the province has earned recognition from the Department of Health (DOH)-10, which includes the Top Awardee for both the first booster dose and senior citizen vaccination coverage for LGUs Catarman, Guinsiliban, and Mahinog.

Mambajao was named the region’s Top 2 LGU for first booster dose coverage, while Sagay received a plaque of recognition for achieving 31.92% of the 50% target for first booster dose coverage.

Another plaque of recognition was also given to Camiguin General Hospital for its dynamic participation and extensive support during COVID-19 vaccination implementation.

Even with the said recognition, Gov. Xavier Jesus Romualdo still reminds locals to avail of the free vaccination from the government since gaining protection against the virus is a way for the province to recover from the pandemic. (RTP/PIA-10/Camiguin)
