EXPECT a show of police force at nighttime especially in urban areas.
This, after newly installed Philippine National Police (PNP) 10 director Brig. Gen. Jaysen de Guzman has ordered full visibility at night to prevent petty street crimes and even would-be robberies.
“Ang gusto ko sana di lang dalawa mga at least anim para maka-respondi kaagad for police assistance,” de Guzman said in a chance interview after the assumption ceremony September 26 at Camp Edilberto Alagar.
The occasion also marked outgoing director Brig. Gen. Ricardo Layug Jr.’s retirement after 34 years in police service.
Layug’s own 11-month stint at Alagar was marked by the highly successful C.A.R.D.O. brand of policing.
Today marks a new era in the Northern Mindanao police as de Guzman banks on his own experience as Misamis Occidental PNP director in 2017 and catapult it regionwide.
De Guzman’s start also coincides with the beginning of the 2025 midterm election cycle which begins a few days away with the filing of local candidacy slots.
