CAGAYAN de Oro City Councilor Joyleen Mercedes “Girlie” Balaba is calling on all supporters of former President Rodrigo Duterte to participate in the weeklong activities culminating in a grand protest this March 28.
On that day, Duterte will be celebrating his 80th birthday but in a foreign country where he was forcefully sent after his arrest and eventual detention.
Here in CDO, supporters of the former President will observe his birthday with another grand protest after a walk from St. Augustine Cathedral where an evening Mass is expected to be held.
But Balaba said days prior to the grand rally, Masses will be offered at 6:30 p.m. each night starting Tuesday (March 18).
Parallel organizers in Cagayan de Oro City are offering free shirt printing with the words emblazoned “I AM NOT A FILIPINO FOR NOTHING. I STAND WITH HIM.”
In line with this, organizers are calling on supporters for donations such as manpower, black and white Tulco paint, silkscreen, photo emulsion, drinking water, snacks, electric fan and lights.
Shirt printing is ongoing until March 27 in Cagayan de Oro City starting at 1:00 p.m.
The prayer rally is synchronized worldwide.
With less than two weeks to March 28, the movement is hoping to engage as many people as possible, encouraging them to participate in what promises to be an unforgettable demonstration of global solidarity.
