AFP Mobilizes Units and Personnel for ‘Enteng’ Response

MANILA – The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) said it has activated its disaster response units in the National Capital Region (NCR) and mobilized personnel and assets to respond to the effects of Tropical Storm Enteng and the enhanced southwest monsoon.

“Our troops are on high alert and ready to be deployed at a moment’s notice. The AFP is fully committed to supporting disaster response efforts and ensuring the safety of our citizens during this challenging time,” AFP chief Gen. Romeo Brawner Jr. said in a statement late Monday.

The AFP has on standby 11 search, rescue, and retrieval teams, composed of six officers and 98 enlisted personnel, equipped with 19 land and seven water transport assets.

Military units are also closely coordinating with local government units (LGUs) and other government agencies to ensure a swift and coordinated response.

Teams have conducted briefings and mustering exercises to prepare for immediate deployment, and assets have been strategically positioned to access critical areas quickly.

The AFP has advised mariners and the general public to take precautions and follow weather updates, particularly in flood-prone areas in the NCR and nearby provinces.

The Philippine Air Force (PAF) is likewise on high alert and fully prepared to assist communities severely affected by Enteng.

“As the storm continues to affect various regions, the PAF is closely monitoring the situation and coordinating with other government agencies for potential rescue and relief operations,” PAF spokesperson Col. Ma. Consuelo Castillo said in a separate statement.

She added that PAF air and ground assets, along with personnel, are ready to be deployed to the most affected areas.

“The PAF’s swift response capabilities ensure that essential aid, including food, water, medical supplies, and evacuation support, can be delivered to those in need as quickly as possible,” Castillo said. (PNA)
