INFLATION in Northern Mindanao increased to 8.2 percent in April 2026, from 4.6 percent in March 2026. Moreover, the region’s inflation rate in April 2026 was higher than the inflation rate of 0.1 percent in April 2025.
Northern Mindanao’s inflation rate in April 2026 was higher than the national level (7.2%). Across the provinces, the highest inflation was recorded in Lanao del Norte at 9.4 percent, while the lowest was noted in Camiguin at 4.3 percent.
The main drivers behind the acceleration of inflation in April 2026 were:
⚫ the faster increase in the prices of food and non–alcoholic beverages with 7.0 percent inflation in April 2026, from 3.2 percent in March 2026 and with 46.8 percent share;
the faster increase in the prices of transport which recorded an inflation of 28.4 percent in April 2026, from 13.8 percent in March 2026 and with a 36.1 percent share; and
⚫ the faster increase in the prices of housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels which recorded an inflation of 7.5 percent in April 2026, from 5.0 percent in March 2026 and with a 14.4 percent share.
The same commodity groups mainly contributed to the April 2026 inflation with the following percentage point contributions:
food and non-alcoholic beverages with 3.08 percentage points;
⚫ transport with 2.54 percentage points; and
housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels with 1.47 percentage points.
