Since their crowning last year, Ronald Costanilla, Nick Ramsis Apolonio, and Rizil Vinz Grigo Ares have continued to excel in their respective paths, bringing honor to Cagayan de Oro. These young men have faced challenges head-on and emerged as shining examples of talent and determination.

Ronald Costanilla: The Charismatic Leader and Cultural Advocate

At just 20 years old, Ronald from Barangay Canitoan has made quite an impression both locally and beyond. He is the Mister Cagayan de Oro 2023 grand winner–a feat he achieved while balancing his studies at the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTP) CDO Campus where he is pursuing a degree in Education. Ronald has also represented Cagayan de Oro on larger stages, most notably in the Mr. MASTS 2023, and as a Semi-Finalist in the Mister International Philippines 2024. Apart from his pageant accomplishments, he is a model, brand ambassador, and often judges pageants in various provinces. Known for his intellect and dedication to fitness, Ronald is admired for his eloquence and resilience.

Nick Apolonio: The Versatile Creative

Nick, 23, from Barangay Consolacion, holds the title of Mister Cagayan de Oro Maharlika 2023. A cum laude graduate from Xavier University-Ateneo de Cagayan with a degree in Business Administration major in Marketing, Nick’s talents go beyond academics. He is a singer, most recognized as the voice of the Higalaay Festival’s Official Soundtrack, “Love CDO,” a song that has become an anthem of the city’s vibrant energy. Nick also works as a host, brand ambassador, and virtual assistant, showcasing his broad range of skills and adaptability.

Rizil Ares: The Entrepreneurial Artist

Rizil, 25, from Barangay Gusa, is the bearer of the Mister Cagayan de Oro Turismo 2023 title. He is the mastermind behind Punk Kapehan, a pop-up coffee shop that has become a favorite among locals. Punk Kapehan is currently set up at the Higalaay Festival Market until August 31, and also has a more permanent spot at Duaw Park Cafe near City Hall. Beyond his coffee business, Rizil is a singer and songwriter, having recently released a new track called “Kapehan” through an indie label. His musical journey continues as he and his band, Perfect Average, gear up for the Red Horse Muziklaban semi-finals in Davao City.

A Promising Future for Cagayan de Oro’s Pageant Titleholders

Ronald, Nick, and Rizil have kept their focus on their passions, achieving remarkable milestones along the way. Their dedication serves as an inspiration, showing that with hard work and perseverance, they can overcome any obstacles—even when support from the local pageant organization has been minimal. These self-sufficient titleholders have opened doors for other aspiring young men in Cagayan de Oro, leaving a bold and lasting legacy in the City of Golden Friendship.Credits:Photography: Henry De GuzmanHMUA: Alan BerdejoAssistant: Wendel Aca
