Cebu City, Philippines โ The City College of Cagayan de Oro (CCCDO) spearheaded a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signing with leading local and international universities to strengthen climate change education through innovative lesson planning on September 15, 2025. The ceremony, held at the CN Building of Cebu Technological University (CTU) Main Campus, formalized the partnership for the Collaborative Implementation of the ATECCE Phase 2 Cebu Workshop: Lesson Planning for Climate Action: Content, Pedagogy, and Assessment.
The MOU was graced and signed by Dr. Jestoni P. Babia, President of CCCDO; Dr. Amor Torres, Vice President for Academic Affairs of Capitol University, representing Pres. Atty. Casimiro Juarez Jr.; Atty. Rodmarc Sanchez, Executive Assistant IV of Cebu Technological University, representing the Pres. Dr. Joseph Pepito; Dr. Hiroki Fuji, Director of the ESD Promotion Center of Okayama University, Japan; and Dr. Tomonori Ichinose, Professor of Miyagi University of Education, Japan.
The signing was witnessed by basic education institutions and higher education institutions of Cebu, who also participated in the three-day workshop, along with the CCCDO microcredentials team, further showcasing the institutionโs leadership in advancing green education initiatives.
The initiative strongly aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 13 (Climate Action), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals). By combining international expertise and local participation, the ATECCE Phase 2 Cebu Workshop reaffirms CCCDOโs leadership in promoting education for sustainable development and climate resilience in the Philippines.
