PIA News Release:NLE 2022 in MisOcc province, generally peaceful

OROQUIETA CITY, Misamis Occidental (PIA)—The conduct of the elections in the province of Misamis Occidental has been generally peaceful.

Despite the province being under Commission on Elections (Comelec) control due to security related incidents, Misamis Occidental Police Provincial Director PCol Anthony Placido said there was no major election-related violence recorded in the province.

(We notice that the area is really quiet and I am thankful to the people of Misamis Occidental that they are really peace-loving and I hope it will continue)

The Misamis Occidental Police Provincial Office provided and monitored security for Misamisnons who voted during the National and Local Elections (NLE) 2022.

(We can see that the turn out is very high, which means that people are taking part and are really voting and coming out because they know that they are secured. This is a basis that the place is safe and they trust the election so the turn-out is really good and this is the highest election turnout here in Misamis Occidental)

Placido lauded the efforts of the police in ensuring safe, orderly, free and fair elections in the province.

“To our police, I am very grateful to our Provincial Election Monitoring Action Center (PEMAC), supervising officer, and the augmentation is a big help so that we can provide the security and safety of the people,” he said.

The PNP in Misamis Occidental will continue to monitor the peace and order situation and closely guard the vote counting machines (VCMs) in Misamis Occidental. (SMRN/PIA-10/Misamis Occidental)
