Misocc ranks fifth nationwide in per capita GDP

IN 2023, Misamis Occidental celebrated a remarkable economic milestone with a per capita GDP of ₱199,106, ranking 5th among the 82 provinces in the Philippines. This achievement highlights the province’s growing economic strength and its vital contribution to Northern Mindanao’s development.

𝐔𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐆𝐃𝐏 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐆𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐭𝐡

Gross domestic product (GDP) measures the total value of goods and services produced in a region, while per capita GDP reflects the average income or output per person. A higher per capita GDP often signifies better living standards and increased wealth for residents.In 2023, Misamis Occidental’s economy grew by 6.7%, among the highest in Northern Mindanao. Key industries like transportation, accommodation, food services, and public administration fueled this growth. Notably, the province’s industrial sector expanded by 9.7%, the fastest in the region.

𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐃𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐒𝐮𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬

The province’s impressive achievements are attributed to the visionary leadership of Governor Henry S. Oaminal, whose Asenso Misamis Occidental framework focuses on infrastructure development, industry support, and enhanced services. His administration’s efforts have laid a strong foundation for sustained progress.

Misamis Occidental now contributes 17.5% to Northern Mindanao’s services sector, second only to Cagayan de Oro City. Its influence in trade, services, and other sectors is rapidly growing. Nationally, its 5th-place ranking in per capita GDP is a testament to its economic momentum.
