MARAWI CITY—The Bangsamoro Government, through its Marawi Rehabilitation Programs (MRP), is continuously working with the national government to respond to the needs of internally displaced persons (IDPs) of Marawi.
BARMM Deputy Chief Minister Aleem Ali Solaiman said that through the programs and projects of the MRP, “a prosperous lifestyle of Marawi IDPs is gradually being developed.”
“Sa kasalukuyan, masasabi kong unti-unti nang nakakabawi ang mga IDPs matapos mangyari ang siege dahil parehong nagtutulungan ang national at BARMM government upang matugunan ang araw-araw na pangangailangan nila,” Solaiman said.
[Currently, I can say that the IDPs are gradually recovering after the siege because both the national and BARMM governments are working together to meet their daily needs.]
MRP has provided direct livelihood cash assistance to vulnerable IDPs in the Most Affected Areas (MAA) for them to start micro-enterprises to improve livelihood.
“Ang MRP ay patuloy na mino-monitor ang mga pangangailangan ng mga IDPs upang matugunan ang mga pangunahing pangangailangan nila kagaya ng pangkabuhayan, financial assistance, water supply, pangkalusugan, malinis at ligtas na tirahan, sapat na edukasyon para sa mga out-of-school youth, at iba pang proyekto,” Solaiman added.
[The MRP continues to monitor the needs of IDPs to meet their basic requirements such as livelihood, financial assistance, water supply, health, clean and safe shelter, adequate education for out-of-school youth, and other projects.]
As of press time, around 3,844 IDPs received cash aid worth P15,000.00 each under the Bangsamoro Sagip Kabuhayan Program, while more than 500 beneficiaries received worth P5,000.00 cash aid.
Among those who have been granted subsistence include widows, lactating mothers, pregnant women, single parents, Imams or Ustadh (Islamic teachers), as well as returning Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs).
Ashya Amintao, 26, from Brgy. Lilod Madaya, is one of the beneficiaries who is planning to have a mini-store livelihood to support their basic needs.
“Sa pamamagitan ng ibinigay na tulong sa amin ng BARMM-MRP ay magpapatayo ako ng sari-sari store para sa dagdag kita. Ako ay nagpapasalamat sa natanggap namin na suportang pangkabuhayan,” she said.
[With the help given to us by BARMM-MRP, I will put up a sari-sari store for extra income. I am grateful for the livelihood support we have received.]
The Bangsamoro Government has launched the MRP in October 2020 to rebuild the war-torn city of Marawi through the implementation of projects and programs based on the approved committee report made by the Bangsamoro Transitions Authority’s Special Committee on Marawi. (BIO/PIA-10 Lanao del Sur)
