MISAMIS ORIENTAL (PIA)–Twenty-one beauties representing Misamis Oriental’s unique towns and cities flaunt their grace, brains, and confidence during the conclusion of Kuyamis Festival’s Ms. Kuyamis Pageant held in Limketkai Atrium, Cagayan de Oro City, January 11.
Zhydelle Anor G. Langala from El Salvador City took the crown after winning both minor and major categories: “Best in Kuyamis-inspired Cocktail Attire, Miss MADC Dental Clinic, Miss Amaya View, and Miss Photogenic.”
Langala stressed the importance of hope, or “paglaum,” in tourism during the “new normal” part of her answer and question section. This was in line with the Provincial Government of Misamis Oriental’s (PGMO) push for goal-oriented tourism.
“I can show that there is PAGLAUM in tourism because we faced a lot of difficulties and challenges, such as the pandemic. A lot of things have changed, but there is always a silver lining. Despite the darkness, there is beauty, there is light, and there is love, and I believe that there is no pandemic or any other new challenges that we cannot overcome because, as one Misamison, we are the paglaum of Misamis Oriental,” she said.
Now in its 10th year, the Ms. Kuyamis pageant has served as an avenue for beauty queen hopefuls to make a splash in the national and international beauty pageant scene.
“Ms. Kuyamis has come a long way since it began ten years ago because it has carved a name for Misamis Oriental in the international pageants; this is a source of pride and cooperation for all Misamisons, for this has established a cultural identity for Misamis Oriental,” Provincial Tourism Council Co-Chairperson Erlinda Unabia said.
