DSWD-10, drugstore in Camiguin ink MOA for medical assistance

MAMBAJAO, Camiguin (PIA)–To further provide medical assistance and assistive devices efficiently to the island province of northern Mindanao, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)-10 seals a deal with Mercury Drug Incorporated, Camiguin Branch.

DSWD Regional Director Mari-Flor Dollaga-Libang and Mercury Drug Incorporated’s Vice President for Mindanao Jocelyn Cupay forged the memorandum of agreement (MOA) recently here.

The agreement, which serves as the innovation under Libang, is a cash voucher scheme adoption. In the said scheme, beneficiaries of the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program of the agency has to present the voucher to an identified Mercury Drug Store to directly avail of the quality medicines or devices.

“Providing convenience in helping cover the medical needs of the affected families and individuals is the best thing we can offer. This partnership is all about saving more people from the misery of finding and availing medical attention which is a basic human need and right,” said Dollaga-Libang.

On September 9 of last year, DSWD Field Office-10 also forged a MOA with Mercury Drug Incorporated in Cagayan de Oro City.

With this move, the department is looking forward to establishing a strong partnership among service providers and stakeholders for the benefit of the AICS clientele.

The AICS program is one of the most availed services in the department. It is a social safety net or stopgap mechanism to support the recovery of individuals and families from unexpected crises such as illness, death in the family, and educational needs, among others. (DSWD-10/PIA-10/Camiguin)
