CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY — Three major business chambers in Cagayan de Oro City have formally requested Mayor Rolando A. Uy to extend the deadline for the renewal of business permits from January 20, 2026 to March 30, 2026, citing persistent economic challenges faced by the local business sector.
The letter was signed by Mr. Almarco Brito, President of the Cagayan de Oro Chamber of Commerce and Industry Foundation, Inc. (Oro Chamber); Mr. Efren T. Uy, President of the Cagayan de Oro Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (CDO-FILCCCI) and Mr. Henry Dy, President of the Misamis Oriental Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Inc. (MOFCCCI).
The letter cited current challenges the business sector is facing including the ongoing economic recovery efforts and relief for cash-flow constraints; adjustments and increases in Real Property Tax and minimum wage and slower-than-expected sales performance in 2025.
An extended renewal period would help alleviate bottlenecks, reduce penalties, and ensure timely compliance without compromising the city’s governance standards. It will also reinforce confidence among the investors and workers by demonstrating responsive and supportive leadership, the letter says.
These chambers are confident that a favorable response from the City Government will benefit local entrepreneurs and the business community. (Oro Chamber ComsTeam)
