Cagayan de Oro City-The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) Region 10 on Monday Kick off its annual Fish Conservation (FishCon) Week with a press briefing with Regional Director Teodoro Bacolod.
During the briefing,Bacolod emphasized 3 major activities of the weeklong celebration and these are the distribution of fuel subsidy to fisherfolks, distribution of fiber glass fishing boats and the acceptance of entry of Vlogging contest.The Vlogging contest was already launched on September 5 online at BFAR-10 FB page inclined with this year’s theme: “Pagkain ng Bansa siguruhin,Likas-kayang Produksyon ng isda isulong natin!”.
Bacolod said that in the fuel subsidy program of the Bureau, Northern Mindanao has an allocation of Php7.3 Million for 2022 and the regional office was already distributed a total of Php2.3 Million for its 1st trance while there’s still around 3,354 fisherfolk recipients for the 2nd trance distribution. The Fuel subsidy program was launched in Lala ,Lanao del Norte last June 15 this year.The town has the biggest fisherfolk populace throughout the region. To address the decrease of fish feeds in the country,the Northern Mindanao region identified Lala town to be the home of a Feed Mill to be constructed soon worth Php35 Million.The bureau will put up 3 feed mills;one in Luzon,Visayas and Mindanao.
On Tuesday, BFAR-10 distributed fuel subsidy to 21 recipients worth Php3,000.00 in Linamon Lanao del Norte.
3 fisherfolk association in Sagay Camiguin will receive a fiber glass boat on September 13 while 6 organizations in Mahinog Camiguin will received the same on the following day.The deadline of Vlogging contest submission of entries is on September 15 and it will be awarded in a virtual presentation on September 30.There were also Agri Fairs in different areas of Region 10 at Camp Evangelista in Patag village this city on September 12,Lanao de Norte Provincial Capitol on September 12 to 16 and in Ozamis City on September 16.The 59th Fish Conservation Week will culminate on September 16 at BFAR-10 Regional office in Macabalan this city
