AUTHORITIES inspected the operations of Kiem Hing Steel Company, located in Sitio Kirahon, Barangay San Martin, Villanueva, on Wednesday, August 26, 2026.
The inspection was conducted to assess the company’s operational status and production capacity.
According to available data, the company began operations in 2019 and has continued processing materials needed for the production of steel products.
The company has a workforce of 400, including 57 Chinese nationals and local workers.
In terms of operations, the plant runs from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 a.m., meaning operations continue throughout the night to meet production requirements.
The company uses materials such as manganese, limestone, and scrap materials.
Among the products and materials manufactured are angle bars and other steel products.
The plant’s production output was also recorded at an estimated 250 metric tons per day, depending on operations and the availability of raw materials.
Special Assistant to the Mayor Mr. Israel Permi said the inspection was conducted because authorities had also become concerned following a series of inspections of plants across the Philippines.
It may be recalled that Governor Juliette Uy has consistently supported the activities and initiatives of every local government unit aimed at strengthening safety and good governance while protecting the livelihoods of Misamisnons.
Through continued monitoring and coordination between LGUs and national government agencies, authorities hope to maintain a balance between industrial development, job creation, and ensuring the safety and welfare of the people of Misamis Oriental. PIO
