Ozamiz holds ‘Asenso’ painting tilt

OZAMIZ CITY, Misamis Occidental (PIA)–A total of 28 participants joined the first “Asenso” painting contest held at Prospera Park, City Hall Grounds, July 13.

Organized by the city government here, the painting contest aimed to showcase the talents of Ozamiznons in visual arts.

Haim Angelo Llanos from Ozamiz City National High School (OCNHS) who bagged first place expressed his gratitude to Mayor Henry “Indy” Oaminal Jr. for funding and supporting the “Asenso” painting contest.

Llanos’s work demonstrates people’s faith, love and trust in the Virgin of Cotta. His work also showed the faithful rubbing his hand on the image of the Virgin of Cotta, depicting the culture of the Misamisnons and the devotees.

The contest pieces have featured the city’s devotion to “Birhen sa Cotta,” as part of the celebration of the city’s 74th charter day anniversary.

The first prize winner received P20,000 in cash, a certificate and trophy while the second prize winner received P10,000 in cash and the third prize winner got P5,000 cash, a certificate and trophy, and P1,000 consolation prize for non-winners. (SMRN/PIA-10/Misamis Occidental)
