MisOcc breaks ground for multi-million Asenso Medical Center

OROQUIETA CITY, Misamis Occidental (PIA)–As Misamis Occidental Governor Henry S. Oaminal Sr. celebrated his 64th birthday, October 11, the Asenso Misamis Occidental Medical Center at Talairon, Oroquieta City also broke ground with a 500 bed capacity.

This medical center will be a trailblazer among provinces, equipped with upgraded facilities and competent medical personnel to cater to the health care needs of every Misamisnon.

During the groundbreaking ceremony of the Asenso Misamis Occidental Medical Center, Oaminal shared his vision for the province, which is anchored on 5Ms: Misamisnons Magpuyong Malinawon, Malambuon ug Malipayon.

“When I assumed as your governor, one of my priorities was to make our health services affordable and accessible to all Misamisnon, especially the underprivileged. For many years we always heard problems confronting our hospital like congestion, lack of medical supplies and equipment, inadequate medicines among others. We saw the need to really upgrade our hospital facilities to cater to the overwhelming health needs of our people,” Oaminal said.

Oaminal also shared the difficult times during the pandemic where many people were infected with COVID-19.

“This lesson we learned from the pandemic which has taught us to be proactive, innovative, resilient and responsive that is why my focus is really to help our fellow Misamisnon avail the quality health services kay unsaon man nato nga mahimong magpuyong malipayon kung kita wala’y maayong panglawas kay matod pa sa panultihon (how can we live happily if we don’t have good health as the saying goes) health is wealth,” the governor added.

Meanwhile, Department of Health (DOH)-10 Regional Director Dr. Jose R. Llacuna Jr. said this is a manifestation of the efforts of tDOH in the Universal Health Care for the effective and efficient delivery of quality and services to all the people especially those who are poor.

He also acknowledged the effort of the provincial government of Misamis Occidental.

“This is the reason why the good governor is planning to have this as the end referral hospital in Misamis Occidental aron dili nata mag-send pa og mga pasyente (so that we don’t send more patients) outside of our province. We take care of our home and I promise that we have the Center for Health Development full complete technical and logistics support in whatever way we can.Together we can go on if we are cooperating and coordinating, we can achieve better, united. We shall overcome whatever challenge that comes along the way, we shall prevail,” he emphasized.

Misamis Occidental residents will get a boost on health services as the construction of a multi-million worth project of new provincial hospital known as Asenso Misamis Occidental Medical Center, which will cover the emergency department, laboratory, diagnostic center, pharmacy, patient rooms and services and treasury while the second floor will cover the wards and private rooms, the surgical and radiology department.(SMRN/PIA-10/Misamis Occidental)
