CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (PIA)–The Department of Health (DOH)-10 opened five vaccination sites here to provide full vaccination and booster doses for qualified target population, dubbed, “Bakunahang Bayan: PinasLakas Special COVID 19 Vaccination Days.”
In a press conference, Dr. David Mendoza, Chief, local health support division head of DOH-10, shared that “fully vaccinated” or having full vaccination are those that received the first two doses of COVID 19 vaccine. However, first booster dose will be given to 12 years old and above and for 50 years old above with co-morbidities, they will be given second booster dose.
“Until now, there is still what we call vaccine hesitancy, although we already did our risk communication, advocacies but still there are individuals aside from vaccine hesitancy, there are still those anti-vaxers. Because our vaccine is not mandatory, this is free-willing so therefore, they have a chance to say no to the vaccine,” he said.
Out of the 526, 613 individuals target population to be given the 2nd booster dose, though not yet all are eligible, DOH-10 have given 21, 996 or 4.18% for Cagayan de Oro City.
Mendoza further said the vaccine coverage for the general population has reached 90%. The problem is the hesitancy of those who are highly vulnerable, the senior citizens.
The very purpose of booster doses is to improve immunity and increase the immune system, said Mendoza, although restrictions are eased such as the non-wearing of face masks in open places, he clarified COVID-19 is still here.
As of September 22, 2022 in Region 10, PinasLakas First Booster Dose coverage is at 17.73% with target at 1,296,800 and accomplishment of 229, 879. Remaining number of individuals for first booster dose to reach 50% target is 1,066,921.
As to provinces, PinasLakas First Booster Dose Coverage in Bukidnon at 10.18%, Camiguin (44.46%), Lanao del Norte (11.95%), Misamis Occidental (46.11%), Misamis Oriental (12.14%), Cagayan de Oro City (15.74%), and Iligan City (27.99%).

In Cagayan de Oro City, DOH 10 has vaccination sites at Centrio Ayala Mall, 3rd floor, Ororama Supercenter Cogon 2nd floor, Gaisano City Mall 4th floor, Food Court, SM Uptown 2nd floor and City Mall Iponan from 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. (JMOR/PIA-10)
