CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (PIA)–Members of the Regional Development Council (RDC)-10 have participated in a blended 129th RDC-X full council meeting, March 7, to deliberate on the proposed budget for fiscal year 2023 as prepared by the council’s committees on economic development, macro and development administration, infrastructure and utilities development, and social development.
Each committee was made to present and defend its proposed budget for 2023 for approval by the council.
Regional Director Mylah Faye Aurora B. Cariño of the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA)-10 explained that the crafting of the budget for the programs, projects and activities to be implemented in 2023 should conform to the RDC-10 approved regional guidelines and evaluation criteria and to the 2023 Annual Investment Program (AIP).
Representative Rufus Rodriguez of Cagayan de Oro City’s second district actively participated in the deliberation of the budget presented by the different committees to ensure that Region 10 would get a reasonable share of the national budget in 2023 to be used in the implementation of catalytic programs and projects in the area.
In the same meeting, other regional development concerns were also discussed such as the Typhoon Odette rehabilitation and recovery program, recommendations regarding the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas’ (BSP) plan of using polymer instead of Abaca and cotton for Philippine banknotes, recommendations to expedite the right-of-way acquisition for government infrastructure projects, policy recommendations to retain 2G and 3G cellular phone services as part of the cellular mobile telecommunications service resilient network design, among others.
