El Salvador City, Misamis Oriental- The local chief executive of this city located at the western part of the province of Misamis Oriental announces on Tuesday the extension of Free Entrance at the newly open and refurbished Tuburan Spring.
Mayor Edgar Lignes said that the City Council has passed a resolution and it was approved and signed by him the extension of Free Entrance until January 15 this year of the said 3 hectares area that was closed almost 3 years already.
During his first term of office as the local executive of this component city of Misamis Oriental,Lignes ordered a closure of this natural flowing spring water located at the heart of the city because of almost hundreds of illegal settlers squatted most of the 3 hectares area a the spring surrounding.
“It is useless to open a tourist attraction were eye soars are immediately seen and sanitation is also at stake in the area wherein garbage and wastes are uncontrollable “,said Lignes.
He said that residents nearby makes the natural spring as their laundry and bathing area the reason why he decided to closed it and find ways to rehabilitate the potential area and find areas for relocation for the said squatters.
His plan was realized last year,after the city council approved a budget for rehabilitation of Tuburan Spring and was open just last December 19 and it was the venue of Kuyamis Festival 2023 Swimsuit Competition last December 30 wherein 21 stunning candidates paraded their skin and curves before the juries and it was attended by top official of the province headed by Misamis Oriental Provincial Governor Peter M. Unabia.It was the first major event happened in the area.
Tuburan Spring is now operational and was open for public for swimming purposes only; no picnics, bringing of foods are not allowed,and no frying.
The city government who managed the said tourist destination deploys caretakers and watchers in the area to safeguard the goers and prevent public on not bringing foods.Lignes added that you are not authorized to swim immediately at the pool if you’re not taking shower first.
The 3 hectares Tuburan Spring was surrounded by greenery,trees,event area,benches and a jogging lane wherein public can also allowed to jog.
City Councilor Jeen Clarin who is the Chairperson of the Committee on Tourism reported that from December 20,2022 to January 2, this year,the influx was averages at 200 to 300 persons a day most are from the city and neighboring towns such as Opol,Alubijid and Laguindingan.
She said that Mayor Edgar Lignes is very particular on the sanitation and maintenance of the area that’s why they make it sure that it was maintained as very environmentally friendly tourist attractions with Materials Recovery Facilities (MRF) inside with garbage bins anywhere and dried plants was immediately replenished.
