PNP-MisOcc assures orderly, peaceful elections 2022

OROQUIETA CITY, Misamis Occidental (PIA)– The Philippine National Police (PNP) in Misamis Occidental expressed their full support to ensure that the coming May 2022 local and national elections will be peaceful and orderly.

Police Provincial Director PCol Eufronio Loyola Obong provided assurance during a press conference, January 19, 2022 at Multi Purpose Hall, Camp Naranjo, Lower Lamac, Oroquieta City.

“Sa mga kababayan namin dito sa MisOcc, makakaasa po kayo and I assure you na nandito po ang police, magtatrabaho, handang tumulong, handang magprotekta sa inyo under my leadership. Makakaasa po kayo na ang kapulisan ay nasa inyo po. Babantayan po namin ang boto ninyo, babantayan namin ang seguridad ninyo,’’ Obong said.

(To our constituents here in Misamis Occidental, you can count on us and I assure you that the police are here, will work, ready to help, ready to protect you under my leadership. You can always count on your policemen. We will guard your vote, we will guard your security)

Obong said the PNP is committed to strictly adhere to the guidelines on the operation of COMELEC checkpoints.

“At least one Comelec checkpoint is set up in each city or municipality to ensure the safety of the localities. Checkpoints by the police and Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) outside the city or municipality shall also be established in coordination with the designated election officer (EO) in the area,’’ he said.

During the election period, no person shall bear, carry or transport firearms or other deadly weapons in public places including any building, street, park, private vehicles, or public conveyance, even if licensed to possess or carry the same unless authorized in writing by the COMELEC.

Obong also said, “Together with the people of Misamis Occidental, we are with high hopes to provide the Misamisnons orderly, safe, honest and peaceful elections.”

The PNP will also exert efforts and intensify checkpoints in the province as part of security measures in preparation for the national and local elections.

Under the new Police Provincial Director, Obong warns the politician not to engage in vote-buying.

“That is clear violation of the COMELEC, may balaod ana. Under my watch just text me or may magsumbong dyan, makakaasa kayo kapag nahuli namin yan kakasuhan namin ‘yang politiko na ‘yan. Uulitin ko, Babantayan namin kayo, babantayan naming ang boto niyo, bumoto kayo ng sarili ninyong gusto at sa inyong konsensya, huwag kayo magpapadala ng pananakot at pera,” the director added.

(That is a clear violation of the COMELEC, there is a law on that. Under my watch just text me or someone will report so you can count on us when we catch that we will apprehend that politician. I repeat, we will watch over you, we will watch over your vote, vote as you please and on your conscience, do not fear oppression and money)(SMRN/PIA-10/Misamis Occidental)
