CINDERELLA Faye “Cindy” Obeñita of Cagayan de Oro City and Misamis Oriental will represent the country in Miss Intercontinental 2021 in Egypt later this year at a still unspecified date.
This after Obeñita was crowned Binibining Pilipinas Intercontinental 2021 Sunday at Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Cindy was Miss Cagayan de Oro 2019 and is currently an employee of the provincial tourism office of Misamis Oriental.
It took her, along with other contestants, more than two years to get the national title as the Binibining Pilipinas pageant last year was postponed again and again due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
It was her very smart answer during the Q and A that really helped and catapulted her to one of the top crowns of Binibining Pilipinas.
“In life, we always find ourselves in a crossroad of choices. Women always have a choice whether to prioritize luxury items, but while we are facing a pandemic, and also they have a choice to embrace a concept of a new beautiful, which is responsive to the needs of the time, adaptive to the change of times and I think I would choose to be that woman who understands the problems of the Philippines, the problems of my community, so that we would be able to uplift each other and I would be that kind of woman who will comfort the afflicted and afflict the comfortable,” was Obeñita’s winning answer to the question: “How important are luxury items like bags, clothes, jewelry for a woman when the national economy is down and struggling?”
The Camiguin-born Cindy was a magna cum laude when she graduated during her college years with a degree in Mass Communication at Liceo de Cagayan University.
