SM Prime partners with AboitizPower

SM Prime Holdings, Inc. (SM Prime), one of the largest integrated property developers in Southeast Asia, has chosen AboitizPower to supply 15 of its facilities with reliable and cost-effective power.      During a ceremonial signing at Conrad Manila in Pasay City on August 7, SM Prime entered into a Retail Electricity Supply (RES) contract with AboitizPower to supply the Company with an aggregate demand of 50 up to 110 megawatts (MW) for three years.       "With our continuous expansion in the coming years, we need a power supplier that will enable us to support our existing and future partners with reliable and cost-effective power. We believe that AboitizPower, with its extensive power generation assets, can provide what we are looking for," SM Prime Holdings President Jeffrey C. Lim said.      Emmanuel V. Rubio, AboitizPower Chief Operating Officer, said the Company is delighted to be SM Prime's power partner of choice, with the two entities sharing the same goal of leaving a positive impact on their communities.      "We are more than honored to be chosen by SM Prime as its supplier of choice. We are excited to more than just provide reliable and cost-efficient power supply, but to also work with them in looking for better solutions to support SM Prime's thrust in providing its customers with top quality products and services," he said.      With its portfolio of renewable energy and thermal power plants located all over the country, AboitizPower, together with its partners, currently has a net sellable capacity of 4,471 MW.

Liyab AoV Team, Liyab SC2’s Enderr seeded in Esports national team pool Sibol for 2019 SEA Games

In a testament to their vast potential and in recognition of their superior skills, several members of Liyab Esports, an esports organization powered by Globe and Mineski, were chosen to form part of the national training pool for a chance to become part of Sibol, the official Philippine esports team for the 2019 Southeast Asian Games in November.      Liyab standouts Kevin Kio “Gambit” Dizon, Jeremiah “1717” Camarillo, Jervan Lorenzo “Bents” Delos Santos, Lawrence Anthony “Rubixx” Gatmaitan and Miguel Klarenz “Miggie” Banaag were picked to be part of the training pool for Arena of Valor (AoV).      Veteran Caviar “Enderr” Acampado was also selected as one of the two possible medal hopefuls in StarCraft ll.      Aside from the six Liyab players, several other esports athletes were also drafted to form the training pool that will compete in the biennial games which is recognizing Esports games such as Dota 2, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, Tekken 7 and Hearthstone, along with AoV and StarCraft ll, as medal sports for the first time in its history.      “Being named to the national training pool alone is already a big honor to Team Liyab. It’s a glowing accomplishment to our boys who have come a long way from relative obscurity to now as potential SEA Games gold medalists,” Ernest Cu, Globe President and CEO, says with pride.      Several other players can still qualify to join Sibol as long as they hurdle several qualifiers in the run-up to the 2019 Sea Games.      At least two players will represent the Philippines in Tekken 7, Hearthstone and StarCraft ll, while seven players will compose the team for Dota 2, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang and Arena of Valor.

PDMEX 2019 - Your Gateway to Technology Advancement

The Philippines’ largest and focused metal working event will hold its 9th Philippine Die & Mould Machineries and Equipment Exhibition (PDMEX 2019) on August 28-31, 2019 with the theme “Your Gateway to Technology Advancement” at the World Trade Center in Pasay City.      This biennial event – now on its ninth (9th) series is organized by the Philippine Die and Mold Association (PDMA) which will bring together allied leaders and stakeholders in the industry, and will discuss the latest technology and practices that guide the development of die- and mold-making around the world.       This year, the trade event will occupy over 13,000 square meter of exhibition space and will feature around 400 local and international exhibitors, which will showcase latest technologies and developments in the die and mould, machine tools, metrology, automation and welding industries.       The die and mold is the "backbone of any industry," said Mr. Louie T. Fuster. "It is the key to all process in manufacturing," he added, noting that "everything people encounter" --- from IC MOULDS for the electronic industry, automotive parts, plastic moulds and dies for plastic bottles and various plastic parts in different industries, medical instruments and equipment, including farming implements for the agricultural industries. SciTech Caravan Highlights SETUP in Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental

The Department of Science and Technology region X (DOST-X) highlighted its banner program, the Small Enterprise Technology Upgrading Program (SETUP), to mostly 400 participants during the Science and Technology Caravan at the Tagoloan Municipal Dome, Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental on July 30, 2019.      SETUP is a nationwide strategy aimed at improving the productivity and competitiveness of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). It provides a wide range of solutions which include technology transfer and commercialization, technical consultancy services (e.g. Manufacturing Productivity Extension, Consultancy for Agricultural Productivity Enhancement, food safety, energy audit, cleaner production, etc.), packaging and labeling assistance, technology trainings, calibration and laboratory testing services, and equipment acquisition through the innovation-enabling fund (i-fund).       SETUP helps firms buy appropriate technologies, the acquisition cost of which to be amortized by the latter in equal monthly installments for three years, without interest.      From 2002 to 2016, the program enabled a total of 341 micro-scale enterprises to graduate to small-scale; 20 firms leaped from being micro to medium enterprises; 90 from small to medium enterprises; and one from medium to large enterprise.      Aside from promoting SETUP as assistance to MSMEs, the caravan also served as an avenue to promote some of the region’s SETUP-assisted products.       Exciting games for students and pre-testing sessions for the entrepreneurs and locals gave the participants the chance to enjoy boxes of Vjandep Pastels, Monk’s Peañato, and Slers Chicharon.      Other programs and services of the agency such as Scholarship and Consortia, STARBOOKS, Consultancy and Training, Community Empowerment through Science and Technology (CEST), Regional Standards and Testing Laboratory (RSTL), and Disaster Risk Reduction Management (DRRM) were also exhibited.      The S&T Caravan is a three-leg activity hosted by the DOST regional office X to showcase its programs and services throughout the region. The first leg was conducted on February 28, 2019, at Linamon, Lanao del Norte while the third leg will be conducted at Oroquieta City, Misamis Occidental in September 2019.

26th NRCE set August 15-16 at SMX

Preparations for the 26th National Retail Conference and Stores Asia Expo (NRCE) are underway as this year’s NRCE is slated on August 15-16, 2019 in SMX Convention Center, MoA Complex, and Pasay City. After another successful turnout of the country’s biggest retail conference and exhibition last year,  global and local experts in the industry are expected to grace the 26th NRCE to give insights and provide updates on the latest developments and trends on the retail industry.
