MISAMIS OCCIDENTAL (PIA)—The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) Dipolog Branch held the blessing and turnover ceremony of their newly renovated office building to provide its more than 43,000 members and pensioners the ‘Ginhawa’ (comfortable) experience at Barangay Minaog, Dipolog City with a Holy Mass, and ribbon cutting ceremony, June 23.

GSIS President and General Manager Rolando Ledesma Macasaet together with Dipolog City Mayor Darel Dexter Uy and Oroquieta City Mayor Lemuel Meyrick Acosta led the blessing and turnover rite for the newly-renovated GSIS Dipolog branch building.

The renovation started in May 2021 that included the widening of ramp at the entrance porch for easier access of clients, replacement of ceiling and lighting fixtures for better lighting efficiency, repainting of building and the leveling of the ground floor with replacement of tiles for better walking surfaces, particularly for clients using wheelchairs, and improvement of rest rooms.

GSIS President and General Manager Rolando Ledesma Macasaet assured to provide responsive service to the active and retired members of the GSIS.

“Our members and stakeholders here in Dipolog and the rest of Zamboanga del Norte and Misamis Occidental that the men and women of GSIS will always be here to serve you and to give you the best quality service that you all deserve,” he said.

Macasaet also added that GSIS enhanced the Multipurpose Loan (MPL) program to best suit their members’ needs.

“Sa MPL Plus, umaasa ang GSIS na mas marami pa tayong miyembrong matutulungan (With the MPL, we are hoping to help more members),” he added.

Meanwhile, the pension fund has released P2.6 billion in claims and benefits with monthly pension accounting for half of the total at P1.3 billion for nearly 7,000 old-age pensioners.

For his part, Dipolog City Mayor Darel Dexter T. Uy congratulated GSIS Dipolog not only for the successful completion of the renovation project but for being outstanding on what it is doing.

“A good and beautiful building truly adds to making a good working environment, conducive to productivity. I believe GSIS-Dipolog has truly kept its promise and commitment to providing high quality service that promotes social security and financial benefits to all government employees and their qualified dependents,” Uy said.

Oroquieta City Mayor Lemuel Mayrick Acosta thanked the GSIS for the reliable services and programs it is providing to its members and pensioners from Oroquieta City and Misamis Occidental.

“The symbolic move of renovating your office is basically GSIS showing your commitment to the people that you will stay relevant today and in the coming days for all the members of GSIS. That is the very reason why the Local Government Unit of Oroquieta will continue to partner GSIS in whatever small and big ways we can, especially now that our country will be focusing our efforts on how to get back from the pandemic,” Acosta said.

Noting the trust of the LGUs, GSIS-Dipolog Branch Manager Leoncito S. Manuel said the GSIS is committed to serve better for the welfare of its members.

“With this beautiful and comfortable workplace, it is my hope that we can work more comfortably and happily with determination, motivation and inspiration to work better to reach or even exceed our targets,” Manuel said.

In 2021, the GSIS Dipolog branch, has disbursed a total of P3.1 billion in various loans which benefited over 22,477 members and pensioners. Of this amount, the MPL is at 60 percent or P1.9 billion. GSIS offered the MPL Plus in April 2022 under its Ginhawa for all (GFAL) programs.

Under MPL Plus, the credit limit has been raised to P5 million from P3 million, extending the maximum payment term from seven to 10years; and relaxed the borrowers’ eligibility requirements. (SMRN/PIA-10/Misamis Occidental)
