LGU Marawi, partners pay tribute to Del Rosario’s leadership

MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur (PIA)–The local government here alongside its partners paid salute to the leadership of Secretary Eduardo Del Rosario who headed the Task Force Bangon Marawi (TFBM) since its inception after the siege in the city in 2017. 

City Mayor Majul Gandamra expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Del Rosario as he recognized the latter’s difficult task of rebuilding the city from the ground path after the siege.

He stressed that if it were not for their partnership, he would have struggled much with the rehabilitation. 

“Alongside Secretary Del Rosario, ginawa namin ang aming kayang gawin para nang sa ganoon ay mapabangon namin ang Marawi City [we did all that we could so that we can make Marawi City rise again]… I hope that you will be given another opportunity to serve our country dahil alam ko na [because I know that] he is a good and honest leader,” said Gandamra.

Marawi Sultanate League Sultan Nasser Sampaco further emphasized that the task force chief exemplified in his performance of his mandate the loyalty, courage, dignity, honor, and responsibility with zeal and intelligence. 

The sultan delivered his gratefulness as he cited that although Del Rosario was not a Muslim or Maranao, he still found a way to have a donor for the rebuilding and repair of damaged mosques in the most affected area with his desire to keep the faith and culture of Muslims.

The city’s Association of Barangay Council President and Brgy. Dansalan Chairman Dr. Camid Gandamra Jr. also shared his moments with the TFBM chairperson who was identified to be considerate with the wants of the IDPs during the rehabilitation planning. 

In a video message, City Schools Division of Marawi Superintendent Dr. Anna Zenaida Unte-Alonto highlighted that she would always remember Del Rosario as a leader who would always smile and stay calm but would make sure that everyone is unified to bring betterment to the city and Lanao del Sur province in general. 

She said their relationship with the TFBM was very good and that the Department of Education has always been inspired in participating and supporting all the activities related to the reconstruction and rehabilitation program. 

For her organization’s part, Raheemah Peace Weavers Producer Cooperative’s Sittie Aishah Baicon Cayongcat Nuska underscored that working with the head of the TFBM has truly been inspiring as he would always wear a smile amidst all the challenges being encountered with his reminder not to give up, and such a work ethic accordingly made the Raheemah driven. 

“Wherever our journey will take us, trust that the Secretary Del Rosario that we know will always be part of this organization. Thank you for making a difference in the lives of the people of Marawi,” said Nuska.

Save the Children Philippines’ Edwin Horca likewise acknowledged the insights, recommendations, and sacrifices of the TFBM to make sure that all the priorities, concerns, and aspirations of the constituents of the city are being met. 

He said he knows that Del Rosario has been working so hard in living out his critical role which is to see to it that the message coming from the people reaches the highest office, and tap various players and stakeholders who are one with the government in fulling betterment for the city here. 

Horca added that through the leadership and administration of Del Rosario, the key transformation which is what the people of Marawi have been aspiring for would surely be brought forth.

Philippine Daily Inquirer Journalist Divina Suson also conveyed that despite the negative feedback from the ground, especially from the residents of the city, she and other members of the media sector would still want Del Rosario to stay as the TFBM chairperson alongside Asec. Felix Castro Jr. as the TFBM field office manager as everyone observed that the said officials were not difficult to deal with. 

Meanwhile, Castro extended his gratitude and appreciation to Del Rosario for the hard work and leadership he has shown as the chief of the task force. 

He stated that despite the backlash and criticisms, the latter still did its best and continued with his work. 

“Sa tingin ko kung iba ang namahala sa TFBM, hindi siguro ganito ang ating naachieve,” said Castro.
