LDN pushes for “Serbisyo Caravan” in MILF communities

TUBOD, Lanao del Norte (PIA)–Government services will soon reach far-flung Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) communities in this province.

This, after a resolution was passed requesting the Regional Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (RTF-ELCAC)-X for the conduct of Serbisyo Caravan in MILF communities under 127th Base Command in Bacayawan and 123rd Base Command in Kiazar in the municipalities of Munai and Tagoloan, respectively.

The resolution was discussed and approved during the first quarter joint meeting of the Provincial Development Council (PDC), Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC), and Provincial Anti-Drugs Abuse Council (PADAC) Wednesday, February 2.

The proposed Serbisyo Caravan will be conducted in coordination with the Provincial Government and the respective municipalities.

Provincial Governor Imelda “Angging” Quibranza-Dimaporo said the Serbisyo Caravan, when materialized, will contribute to sustaining peace and development in the province.

“This will really help a lot kay kini ang involvement ani kay mga regional line agencies, so syempre naay mga ayuda gikan sa Department of Agriculture, sa Social Welfare. Hopefully nay pagpasabot ang DOH sa vaccination. It can create livelihood sa ilaha, kung naay panginabuhi syempre madivert ilang attention. Dako kaayo na makatabang sa peace and order kung madivert ilang attention gikan sa pagdala sa armas sa pagpanginabuhi,”she said.

[This will really help a lot because of the involvement of regional line agencies, so of course, there is help from the Department of Agriculture, from Social Welfare. And hopefully, the DOH will explain the vaccination. It can create a livelihood for them and if there is a livelihood it will divert their attention. It will greatly help in the peace and order if their attention is diverted from carrying weapons to livelihood.]

The RTF-ELCAC X has been conducting Serbisyo Caravans under the Convergence Areas for Peace and Development (CAPDev), the region’s banner program to address the root causes of internal armed conflict and insurgency.

CAPDev which takes on a whole-of-nation approach espouses a focused, coordinated, and sustained delivery of the government’s basic services and social development packages in poor, conflict-affected and geographically isolated, and disadvantaged areas in the region.

During the joint meeting, the three councils also passed a resolution requesting the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) to include the children and immediate families of former rebels, belonging to the CPP-NPA enrolled in the E-CLIP Program either as regular or Militia ng Bayan, for the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino program and other education support program of the DSWD.
