DOST Davao Scholarship Applicants Take Face-To-Face Exam After 2-Year Hiatus

The Department of Science and Technology Science Education Institute officially held the in-person qualifying examination for the Junior Level Science Scholarship (JLSS) applicants nationwide last August 27, 2022.

The qualifying examination is the first face-to-face exam held since the COVID-19 pandemic that created economic and social disruption across the world.

In the Davao region, over 300 applicants took the exams simultaneously in their respective provinces.

Applicants who will pass the exam and comply with the requirements will receive a tuition fee subsidy worth 40,000 pesos per year, 10,000 pesos for learning materials or connectivity allowance, premium health insurance, monthly living allowances amounting to 7,000 pesos per month, thesis allowance worth 10,000 pesos and a graduation clothing allowance. Students studying outside of their home province can also avail of an economy roundtrip fare per academic year.

The JLSS program is part of DOST’s goal to increase the number of scientists and engineers to boost knowledge creation and improve education quality by creating a pool of scholar-graduates who can competently teach STEM in secondary education.

The results of the JLSS exam are expected to be released in November this year.
