DOLE-10 reminds fresh jobseekers of free documentary requirements

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (PIA)–The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE)-10 reiterated that first-time jobseekers can secure pre-employment documents for free.

During the opening ceremony for the northern Mindanao part of the “Trabaho, Turismo, Asenso!” Philippine Tourism Job Fair, DOLE-10 Assistant Regional Director Estrella Pahalla said under Republic Act 11261, first-time job seekers will no longer have to pay for any government documentation that an employer needs.

These include the transcript of records, NBI clearance, police clearance, birth certificate, and any other possible pre-employment requirements.

She said the jobseekers just need to go to their respective barangays and request a certification that they are indeed first-time jobseekers.

Pahalla also said that new hires who need a negative RT-PCR test result as part of their pre-employment requirements can get free COVID-19 tests at DOH-accredited testing centers.

Meanwhile, the job fair is held simultaneously in Regions 3, 6, and 10, March 30-31, 2023, to bolster the tourism industry.

Pahalla said a total of 2,500 vacancies are available from 75 employers, including hotel and accommodation establishments, retail and service industries, manufacturing, manpower services, and BPOs.

According to her, the top five job vacancies are for financial advisers, customer service representatives, drivers, bus conductors, and accounting staff. (APB/PIA-10)
