Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE)-10 Camiguin Provincial Field Office (Cam PFO) Chief Arlyn Bael said Raganas was awarded with the Isabelo Delos Reyes Scholarship grant in 2019 inclusive of tuition fees and book allowances for her to finish her course.

Raganas received P11,500 tuition fee and P17,500 book allowance and stipend per semester.

“I come from a poor family that is why I decided to be a working student at Asnaira Dry Goods Store during my first year in college but still was not enough to sustain my schooling financially,” Raganas said.

Bael said Raganas applied for the scholarship when she knew about the program from the school registrar. She was accepted to the program because her father is a member of Quipasa Agri-Business and Hog Raising Association which made her his dependent.

“The WODP scholarship was more than enough to sustain my needs. I became a full-time student and no longer need to work. I have enough to buy my books and the stipend to comply with my school projects. I feel fulfilled since I no longer asked money from my parents– a construction worker and a plain housewife,” Raganas said.

“I would not be successful in my studies without DOLE’s help coupled with perseverance and hard work,” Raganas said.

Raganas plans to review this August in preparation for the CPA Board Exam next year.

Currently, the PFO is monitoring four WODP scholars in the entire province in support of the educational opportunities to officers and members including their dependents for self-development, growth and to be effective change agents in their organization and personal lives.

WODP is a scholarship grant for legitimate dependent/children of bona fide officers and members of locals/chapters of labor federations, independent unions, workers’ associations and workers cooperatives. Under this scholarship, grants available include completion of four or five years of Bachelor’s Degree and completion of two-year Technical Course. (DOLE-10/PIA-10/Camiguin)
