Ensuring safe and peaceful election

The Operation and Monitoring Center of the Department of Education Division of Camiguin Election Task Force (ETF) assisted voters on matters concerning the May 9, 2022 NLE.

They provided hotline numbers that one may contact, May 8-10. DepEd ETF ensured that DepEd Camiguin teachers were provided with adequate information, technical and legal assistance in the course of the performance of their duties as members of the Election Board, as well as DepEd nonteaching personnel who served during the 2022 NLE.

For peace and security, the Philippine National Police conducted the Police Information and Continuing Education (PICE) on adherence to the protocols while performing election duties and checklist of the basic requirements for all deployable personnel during the elections.

Meanwhile, the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) Camiguin extended free legal assistance to  Comelec and its officers and Board of Election Inspectors, Board of Canvassers, and the voters during the pre-election, election and post-election days.

Although there are issues on the 2022 NLE queueing, particularly on the usage of the vote counting machines (VCMs), Mambajao Central School Principal Antonio Saab said people are still patient in waiting for their turn to vote.

He added that since the machines were the same units used in 2010, there are really issues on inserting the ballots but information technology experts are on standby to address the issue.

Express lanes were also observed to pave way to senior citizens, pregnant women, and persons with disabilities  aside from ensuring compliance of the minimum public health standards. (RTP/PIA-10/Camiguin)
