KAPATAGAN, Lanao del Norte (PIA)–A total of 22 barangays here will benefit from various community projects funded through the Kapit-Bisig Against Poverty – Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (KALAHI CIDSS) program of the Department of Social Welfare and Development.
Over 600 residents from Barangay Bagong Badian will soon benefit from the concreting of access roads that will ease transport of agricultural products.
Meanwhile, 900 residents will benefit from the installation of nine solar street lights in Barangay San Isidro.
Joreena Bugtong, area coordinator in Kapatagan of DSWD’s KALAHI CIDSS, said the projects were chosen by the residents themselves.
“Ang nakanindot aning KALAHI CIDSS, dili ta mudemand sa ilaha na mao ni inyo project, mao ni inyong iimplement, kundi muagi ta ug participatory situational analysis diin diha nila tukion kung unsa ang ilahang nagkalain-laing need sa barangay,” she said.
[What is wonderful about KALAHI CIDSS is we don’t demand what project they should implement, but we do a participatory situational analysis in which we will analyze what they really need for their barangay.]
The municipal government of Kapatagan assured that they remain committed in supporting remote barangays.
“Kita sa gobyerno naningkamot jud ta na mapaabot ang projects sa mga barangay. Among gihangyo atong suportahan na mulahutay ang mga projects kung unsa man ang mainstall ug mabutang sa tagsa-tagsa nga barangay,” said Perlito Gonzaga, municipal councilor.

Other community projects include the construction of fish landing and pathways, construction of isolation facilities with the provision of water supply, construction of barangay health station, construction of solar dryer, among others. (LELAntonio/ PIA-10-Lanao del Norte)
