11 applicants hired on the spot during Oro 120th Labor Day job fair

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (PIA)–The city’s Job Placement Bureau (JCB), in coordination with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE)-10 Cagayan de Oro City Field Office (CDO FO) and Ayala Malls Centrio, initiated the 120th Labor Day Job Fair where 11 applicants were hired on the spot, May 1 at Ayala Centrio Mall, here.

DOLE-10 CDO FO Chief Emmanuel G. Toledo said the role of the intermediaries and partners in intensifying the employment facilitation services of the department to respond to the urgent need of the displaced workers and jobseekers got decent and productive employment. Thus, helping them gradually recover from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. 

Moreover, DOLE-10 Regional Director Albert E. Gutib conveyed the message of Labor Secretary Silvestre “Bebot” Bello III where he emphasized the significant contribution of conducting job fair in employment generation, especially that most displaced workers are still in dire need to getting jobs to sustain the needs of their respective families. Gutib wished that all jobseekers would finally land the dream jobs that they are looking for.

Fifty employers participated with 1,334 job vacancies available and interviewed 475 registered applicants from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.

The Jobs Fair is an employment facilitation strategy aimed to fast-track the meeting of jobseekers and employers/overseas recruitment agencies in one venue at a specific date to reduce cost, time and effort particularly on the part of the applicants. This is open to all unemployed, skilled and unskilled workers, fresh college graduates, graduates of training institutions, displaced workers and employees seeking advancement. 

The Jobs Fair, with the theme, “Let’s make the future and build careers,” served as the venue where applicants select vacancies suited to their qualifications and employers could interview and hire on the spot qualified workers. Several agencies are invited to provide self-employed and training assistance. (DOLE-10/PIA-10)
