Allianz Receives Top Honors at IABC’s 17th Quill Awards

September 6, 2019

Allianz Philippines’ efforts at employee engagement, corporate social responsibility, and special and experiential events were honored at the 17th Philippine Quill Awards.      The Philippine Quill is a prestigious awards program that honors the most reputable organi-zations and corporations for their “excellent communication to achieve business goals, and to make a difference in society.”      “These awards show our commitment to empowering our workforce and the communities we serve to overcome the challenges that come their way. We at Allianz are very honored that our efforts have been recognized,” said Allianz Philippines Chief Marketing Officer Gae Martinez.      Allianz received top honors for its Dare 2 Be Fit in the Employee Engagement category, Project Sanlahi for the Corporate Social Responsibility category, and Day of Courage for the Special and Experiential Events category.      Through its Dare 2 Be Fit project, Allianz encouraged its employees to participate in physi-cal and mental challenges that included CSR activities. Its main objective is to help en-hance their health and wellbeing and, at the same time, promote team spirit and create an overall positive impact in society.      Through the project, Allianz emphasized that a healthy workforce is a productive workforce. At the same time, it showed that a socially conscious workforce is not just beneficial for the company, but to society as a whole. While it started out as fitness challenge among em-ployees, it eventually became a company-wide program that encouraged employees to be good to their overall health and well-being and, and likewise make worthwhile contributions to the community.      Its Project Sanlahi, meanwhile, celebrated the strength of indigenous peoples, particularly the Aetas of Porac, Pampanga, by introducing them to the rising sport of obstacle course racing (OCR) and giving them the opportunity to learn about financial literacy.       As most of the Aetas expressed interest in pursuing professions outside their community, the OCR and financial literacy activities showed that they can move forward and have a bet-ter life for themselves and their family. Through Project Sanlahi, Allianz likewise showed the importance of social inclusion, that one can pursue one’s dream no matter what his or her present circumstances are.      The Day of Courage project involved the holding of three different events on the same day with the unified message of encouraging people to have a better life by living it with cour-age. These included the Heart Run in partnership with the Philippine Heart Association; The Allianz Conquer Challenge, an obstacle course racing activity in partnership with Con-quer Challenge Philippines; and the Bayanihan Walk for Filipinos in Singapore.      “As our tagline goes, ‘We dare you to, because we’re with you.’ We came up with these ac-tivities with this in mind, and we’ll continue to create more projects like these that would benefit society at large,” Martinez said.

September 4, 2019

On the March, a coffee table book on Jesuit ministry in the Philippines, scored its fourth major award this year – a Philippine Quill Award of Excellence in the Communications Skills under the Publications category during the 17th Philippine Quill Awards held 30 August 2019 at The Marriot, Newport City.      The award is the boutique publishing house’s fourth this year, adding to its Gold Anvil Award and Platinum Anvil Award from the Public Relations Society of the Philippines (PRSP) and Gold Quill (Award of Merit) from the prestigious International Association of Business Communicators (IABC).      Fr. Jose Arcilla, SJ was principal author of the book, which was edited by John Nery and published by Media Wise Communications. Manuel Paras Engwa and Ramoncito Ocampo Cruz were co-publishers.      On the March: The Jesuits in the Philippines since the Restoration chronicles the Jesuits’ ministry of education and the many aspects of their apostolate in the Philippines as they bring the faith to the most remote corners of the archipelago.      “This latest recognition affirms our commitment to use excellent communications to help the organization achieve its goals and make a difference in society, true to the Philippine Quill’s own aims,” said Cruz, who is also Media Wise president and CEO.      On the March is a fund-raising project for the Philippine Jesuit Aid Association (PJAA), which helps elderly, retired and infirm Jesuits. PJAA is headed by Fr. Jose Quilongquilong, S.J.      In January, On the March bagged its Platinum Anvil, a recognition given to entries that stand out among the Anvil Gold winners.      The PRSP cited the book for “recognizing the vital role of Jesuits in the country, the book highlights their mission and achievements, including their evangelical counsels of poverty, chastity, and obedience.”      The Anvil is the symbol of excellence in public relations, awarded to outstanding PR programs, tools and practitioners.      In June, Cruz flew to Vancouver to receive the book’s Gold Quill from San Francisco-based IABC at the 2019 IABC World Conference.      Only four other Filipino organizations have received the coveted international distinction.      The IABC awards committee said On the March earned the distinction for “exhibiting high-quality writing and superior production values.”      “The book is well-organized, consistent... from the beginning to end. It flows well. It’s clear that [Mediawise] brought together the right mix of interviewers, writers, designers and publishers to produce a high-quality communication vehicle,” said the committee in its citation.

UCPB, Pag-IBIG ink deal on digital services

August 30, 2019

THE UNITED Coconut Planters Bank (UCPB) has offered its digital platform to the Home Development Mutual Fund or Pag-IBIG Fund to help with electronic disbursements of loans and benefits to its 14 million members.      In a statement on Wednesday, the state-owned bank said the new UCPB Pag-IBIG e-Money card will provide members electronic access to cash loans, MP2 Savings dividends and other benefits from Pag-IBIG Fund.      UCPB and Pag-IBIG Fund recently signed a partnership agreement for this electronic disbursement service.      “We commit to deliver this electronic disbursement service in order to provide better service to Pag-IBIG Fund members and to provide everyone with a positive customer experience. This is in line with UCPB’s brand promise to deliver personal and proactive service to clients,” UCPB President and CEO Higinio O. Macadaeg, Jr. was quoted in the statement.      Pag-IBIG Fund CEO Acmad Rizaldy P. Moti said the e-Money card will provide the state-owned firm’s members with “faster, more secure and more convenient ways” to claim benefits.      In September 2018, UCPB also launched its Philippine Electronic Fund Transfer System and Operations Network (PESONet) service through its mobile banking application, allowing clients to transfer funds electronically.      PESONet was the first automated clearing house under the National Retail Payment System (NRPS) of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas.      The central bank earlier developed the NRPS framework to push for a “cash-lite” economy which promotes electronic financial transactions to move away from cash and checks.      Its target was to raise digital payments to 20% of the total transactions by next year.      UCPB’s Mr. Macadaeg in July resigned from his post for “personal reasons.” His resignation will take effect once accepted by President Rodrigo R. Duterte.      Mr. Macadaeg was named UCPB president in 2016.
