Koronadal City, Globe Business launch Korona-911 emergency hotline

November 4, 2019

Globe Telecom, through its enterprise arm Globe Business, and the City Government of Koronadal launch the Korona-911 emergency hotline, an all-in-one emergency communication for information dissemination and response coordination during crisis situations such as the Intensity 6.0 earthquake which hit the town on October 29 and was felt in the rest of Mindanao.      Now ready to accept calls and serve the town’s 189,533 population, Koronadal’s 911 emergency hotline, under the management of Koronadal’s City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office,  serves as a control center in the implementation of communication strategy for early warning, community awareness, and coordination or dispatch of emergency response such as police, fire control, ambulance,  and counter terrorism among others.       Globe prepaid and postpaid customers in the City of Koronadal have the added advantage of being able to call the emergency hotline for free through their mobile phone even without load.       “The operation of Korona-911 is very timely as the city is considered as the center of SOCCKSARGEN, a center of gravity of Region XII and it also happens to be a component capital of the first-class province, South Cotabato. I believe that this makes Koronadal an extraordinary city. It also shows that the city is willing to adopt the latest technologies so as not to be left behind among other LGUs,” said Koronadal City Mayor Eliordo Ogena      Globe Business Senior Vice President Peter Maquera said: “Being a prime enabler of the Korona-911 hotline initiative gives us a sense of achievement and responsibility. This pushes us to further strive for excellence and commit to our purpose to help build our nation and to assist the people when emergency strikes.”       Globe Business provided the hardware, setup of infrastructure and communication, text blasting through Amber by Globe Labs, and the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) Trunking of the Korona-911 service.       This partnership with the City Government of Koronadal on the hotline is also in support of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal No. 9, which emphasizes the need for investment in infrastructure and innovation, being identified as crucial drivers of economic growth and development.      Globe Business is leading the way in encouraging local government units to adopt the integration of ICT and governance as a means of improving the delivery of government services and exchange of information. The said initiative supports Globe Telecom's drive to transform the Philippines into a digital nation by instilling the importance of eGovernance to government offices.

What is a day like for my mom who works in an SM mall? What is dad busy with when he’s busy working in SM?      A recent activity answered these questions that kids of SM employees may often wonder about. They experienced a day of SM magic with Kiddie Patrol, a family engagement activity for the children of SM employees. This happened last September 14 throughout SM malls in the country.      “This initiative promotes #PrideInMyPurpose among employees because it showcases the work that they do to the ones that drive their strongest purpose in their SM Life: their families,” Regional Operations Manager Joey Tumolva said.      The simple mall field trip, which was attended by over 800 kids throughout the country, created an emotional connection to the SM brand by promoting family inclusiveness among employees.      Kids enjoyed a preview of films in the SM Cinema; they also interacted with the mall’s security teams who showed them the roles of security guards. The SM Food Hall and Foodcourt also brought the kids backstage to show them the magic that goes into making food. SM’s engineering teams also lead the show and tell sessions on power generators and airconditioners.      Kids also had a chance to greet customers “good morning” as the mall welcomed morning shoppers.      The fun activity was capped with coloring and drawing interactions that inspired leadership (or “mall management”) in bite sized lessons.      At the end of the day, SM Kiddie Patrol is about making connections and meaningful understanding; and putting family at the top of every SM employee’s to-do list.

BONIFACIO GLOBAL CITY, TAGUIG— To a crowd of journalists, celebrities, and health and fitness advocates, McGraw Pharma Inc., one of the country’s most trusted pharmaceutical companies formally introduced its newest addition in their growing healthcare product portfolio, LeGARDE.  The LeGARDE Health and Wellness Expo, which took place last September 6-8 at the Globe Ampitheater, Bonifacio Global City, successfully launched LeGARDE— an L-Carnitine supplement made with Carnipure™ and Licaps® fusion technology. An event created to satiate today’s active lifestyle trend, the expo featured four pillars: Sweat, Feed, Extend, Unwind, in partnership with various merchants such as Spartan Race Philippines, ECHOstore, Diet Diva, FlexFit, and Sun’s Out Fitness.  During the event, guests were able to experience different activities with other energy enthusiasts like Katarina Rodriguez, Ben Wintle, Aubrey Miles, Charles Tiu, and Patty Laurel.  “Multitasking is a thing nowadays. You can be a corporate guy in the morning and a DJ by night. But the motivation to commit in all these things can be as elusive as the energy to do it all. And I can’t think of a better time to jumpstart your journey to better energy optimization than today,” says Jonathan Sibulo, President of McGraw Pharma Inc.  The expo also shed light on L-Carnitine and how it works in your body. “L-Carnitine occurs naturally in your body. It plays an important role in converting stored fat into a source of usable energy. Carnipure is a grade of L-Carnitine that is highly versatile and used in a wide range of different applications, and LeGARDE has it in Licaps® fusion technology,” he adds.  In between activities, LeGARDE’s celebrity endorser Nico Bolzico, answered some questions from the guests. “Being fit doesn’t always have to be a daunting goal to aspire. What people often forget is that a good and balanced energy use is also important. Imagine being able to do whatever you want!” Nico exclaims.  The 3-day event also featured healthcare professionals, Dr. Raoul Felipe and Dr. Helen Ong-Garcia, who facilitated a more deep dive L-Carnitine discussion. “More than anything else, I hope people would be more inspired to take care of their physical health. There are so many interesting success stories about wellness [people doing this, doing that], and I truly hope we get to make more,” Jonathan adds.  #KeepGoing with LeGARDE Carnipure L-Carnitine Supplement. This coincides with the celebration of the Philippine Tourism Week and World Tourism Day.  All activities focused on the four pillars of support that Globe committed to DOT -- inclusivity, excellence, digital innovation, and sustainability.        Globe started by firing up three cell sites in Pilar, General Luna, and Dapa to further enhance mobile coverage in Siargao and address connectivity requirements of tourists and businesses.  GoWiFi, Globe’s fast and secure public wifi service, also equipped Sayak Airport in Del Carmen, Siargao with free high-quality internet connection which travelers can easily access. GoWiFi continues its expansion plans nationwide and is accessible in over 2,500 sites as of the first half of the year.       Globe, likewise, provides free Traveler SIM cards at the Sayak Airport to foreign visitors which they can bundle with load and GoSurf promos to enhance their Siargao experience and has also committed to support the Siargao Cloud 9 Surfing Cup on October 4-9.      On the other hand, Globe myBusiness, the micro, small, and medium-size enterprise (MSME) arm of Globe,  empowers local businesses especially those in the tourism sector such as accommodations, food, transportation, travel agencies, entertainment/recreation, and retail with digital solutions to help them grow and become more competitive.   This is complemented by learning sessions from  Globe myBusiness Academy both on-ground and online to provide opportunities to MSMEs to learn relevant and updated business processes and digital tools, which they can use to reach more customers and provide hassle-free customer experience.      Meanwhile, GCash is now available in select establishments in Siargao such as Siargao Corner Cafe, Habhab Cafeteria, Louise Cakes and Pastries, Lunares Cafe, MA+D, Isla Mercato, Mercato Coffee, Isla Cabana, Isla Cusina, Beach Bar, Langyaw Souvenirs 1 & 2, Greenhouse, Kudosurf, Harana Surf (hotel, shop, restaurant, school), Mama’s Grill, Chef Justice, Lokal, Bayatakan Farm, Bulan, Butang Concept, Sizzy Diner, Raffys Grill, Karagatan Restaurant, and Siargao Bleu. Through GCash QR payments, GCash is able to help MSMEs transition into the digital arena while allowing customers a fast, easy, and secure way to pay for goods and services.      The Globe Siargao Sustainability Week highlights the turn over to the Siargao Tourism Operators Association (STOA) of several e-Waste bins where customers can place broken cellphones, laptops, tablets and other electronic wastes.  This is part of Globe’s Project E-R3 (Reduce, Recover, Recycle).        At the same time, Globe set up an Ecobooth that serves as a hub for environmental awareness conversation and sharing of best practices on how to protect and preserve the environment, particularly marine biodiversity. Anyone can visit the Ecobooth to exchange their plastic bags and plastic bottles with an eco-bag. They can also get exciting freebies like water tumbler and metal straw if they avail of GoSakto promos.  Those who will sign up as volunteers for the Oct 5 Siargao Beach Clean Up will also get a Globe Eco-Kit.      The company also provided Nature Kids of Siargao, a non-profit association that involves more than 1,700 kids and their families, with used tarpaulin for upcycling.  By turning plastic waste into treasure, the organization is able to provide employment and skill-building opportunities to the residents while contributing to proper and responsible waste management. Globe is also exerting efforts to fully transition to an eco-friendly and sustainable alternative for tarpaulins.      Moreover, Globe is working on a partnership with Lokal Siargao, Bathala Land Tours and Bayatakan Farm Experience. These three businesses value sustainable, responsible and inclusive tourism at the core of their business model.       Lokal is a platform that provides accessibility for farmers, fishermen and artisans to reach customers from the hospitality and tourism industries, and allows them to generate more funds to ensure sustainability within their respective communities. Bathala Land Tours holds guided tours in the northern part of the island and shares the importance of  preserving the Filipino heritage, while Bayatakan Farm Experience is an eco-tourism initiative in Siargao, that provides hands-on farming, culinary experience, and cultural immersion to tourists who are interested in sustainable living.      Earlier, the Globe Citizenship team together with Globe myBusiness also conducted workshops for various stakeholders in Siargao, specifically, businesses and local government units, on marine biodiversity conservation and best practices on sustainability.      Aside from Siargao, Globe is  committed to be present in all major tourism sites in the country.
