BUTUAN City – A total of 10,131 beneficiaries in the whole Caraga Region were already paid by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) through its Barangay Ko, Bahay Ko (BKBK) program as of May 14, 2020.
DOLE-13 director Chona M. Mantilla said Friday that over P32.5 million have been paid to the beneficiaries whose sources of living were affected by the lockdowns imposed to contain the spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).
The BKBK is a community-based safety net program aimed to provide temporary employment to workers from the informal sectors who are either underemployed, self-employed, or displaced marginalized workers who are directly affected by the lockdowns.
Data provided by DOLE-13 to the Philippine News Agency Friday showed that in Agusan del Norte, 561 beneficiaries were paid with a total amount of P1,795,780, while 2,487 beneficiaries received P7,995,640 in Agusan del Sur.

DOLE-13 said an additional 159 beneficiaries of the BKBK program received their payments amounting to P511,980.
“We are still waiting for the release of additional funding to pay more beneficiaries under the program here in Caraga,” Mantilla said.
DOLE-13 data said a total of 3,406 beneficiaries have yet to receive their payments with a total amount of P11,123,700.
Mantilla assured the agency is regularly making follow-ups for the release of the remaining amount. (PNA)
