BUTUAN City – The Department of Social Welfare and Development in the Caraga Region (DSWD-13) has reported the completion of the distribution of the Social Amelioration Program (SAP) in the area through the local government units (LGUs).
In a statement Monday (May 11), DSWD-13 lauded all LGUs in Caraga Region for completing the distribution of the emergency cash subsidy under the SAP, which aims to cushion the impact of the 2019 coronavirus disease (Covid-19) crisis on poor families.
Over P1.5 billion has been disbursed to a total of 305,096 low-income families in the region as of May 8, 2020.
“These families are non-Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) members,” the DSWD-13 said in a statement.
The DSWD-13 lauded the efforts of the 73 LGUs in the Caraga Region, which "served at the forefront" during the distribution of the SAP to the direct beneficiaries.
“The LGUs have disbursed 100% of the funds. Family beneficiaries in Caraga received a P5,000 cash subsidy. The LGUs are now preparing their liquidation reports and other pertinent documents for the validation of DSWD,” the agency said, adding a total of 20 LGUs in the region have already submitted their liquidation reports.
“Among the key strategies that the LGUs implemented which led to an efficient SAP distribution in their localities include maintaining close coordination of local social welfare and development office (LSWDOs) staff, barangay officials, and purok leaders with the personnel of DSWD-13 from conducting the assessment to the distribution of the aid; the use of social media; and announcing information on SAP in the villages to keep constituents informed about the program,” the agency said.
The DSWD-13 also expressed gratitude to the Philippine Army and the Philippine National Police (PNP) in the region for providing security during the SAP distribution. (PNA)
